Bank statement reconciliation

A bank statement shows the family payment received yesterday. The receipt is already posted, so the next task is to match the statement evidence to that entry—not record the income again.

Import the statement

  1. Open Accounting > Banking and select Import statement.
  2. Choose the bank account and upload the statement file in the supported CSV layout.
  3. Review imported dates, descriptions, direction, amount and currency before matching.

The import dialog associates statement rows with a specific bank account.

Match a statement row

If the transaction has not yet been recorded, prepare the correct receipt, payment or transfer first. Reconciliation identifies the evidence for a posting; it is not a shortcut for creating an unexplained journal.

  1. Open Reconciliation. Find the statement row using its date, reference and amount.
  2. Choose Match from the row actions and inspect the Candidate journal options.
  3. Confirm the journal belongs to the same bank account and represents the same transaction. Review the amount being reconciled before confirming.
  4. Check the updated reconciliation status and History.

Correct a match

Use Undo reconciliation when an authorized reviewer identifies a wrong match. The history remains available. Removing a match does not reverse the underlying receipt, payment or journal; correct that source separately if it is wrong.

  • Verify the selected bank mapping, currency, amount and date.
  • Check that the source accounting document is submitted.
  • Look for an existing match or duplicate imported row before importing the file again.
