Pricing rules

The bookshop offers a bulk discount on exercise books for a defined quantity range. A pricing rule captures the condition and adjustment so the next draft can be reviewed consistently.

Create the rule

  1. Open Products > Pricing rules and choose New pricing rule.
  2. Name the rule, select Buying or Selling and choose its action: discount percentage, discount amount, fixed rate or margin percentage.
  3. Enter the value and narrow the scope using the price list and item selectors.
  4. Set priority, minimum and maximum quantity, and validity dates.
  5. Review the scope and create the rule.
The rule editor shows scope, quantity thresholds, priority and validity together.

Resolve overlapping conditions

Higher priority wins. Rules with overlapping validity and the same selectors and priority are rejected. Use a clearly justified priority when one condition should take precedence; do not add duplicate rules until an error disappears.

Test the intended price

  • Prepare a draft inside the quantity and date range, then check the selected rate and total.
  • Check a draft outside the range as well. A bulk discount should not unintentionally apply to a single unit.
  • Review how the rule interacts with the item’s price-list rate and document tax treatment before submitting the sale.
